Position Overview: 

As the Grant Proposal Writer, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our impact by identifying and pursuing grant opportunities that align with civic sensitization and youth empowerment through agriculture, sports, ICT, and environmental projects. You will collaborate with various teams to craft compelling winning grant proposals

Responsibilities:

  • Research, identify, and evaluate potential grant opportunities from foundations, governmental agencies, and other relevant sources.
  • Collaborate closely with program managers and subject matter experts to understand project goals, objectives, and impact metrics.
  • Write, edit, and submit clear, persuasive, and well-organized grant proposals that align with the organization’s mission and initiatives.
  • Develop strong narratives that highlight the significance and potential outcomes of our civic sensitization, youth empowerment, agriculture, sports, ICT, and environmental projects.
  • Create compelling budgets and financial justifications that accurately represent the resources required for successful project implementation.
  • Customize proposal content to meet the specific requirements of each grant application, ensuring adherence to guidelines and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the fundraising team to gather data, metrics, success stories, and other information that supports the proposal writing process.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of grant opportunities, applications, and outcomes.
  • Conduct thorough research to gather statistics, case studies, and evidence that strengthen the credibility of proposals.
  • Coordinate with program managers and finance personnel to ensure that grant deliverables are met and reporting requirements are fulfilled.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and changes in the grant funding landscape.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Research, Library and Information Sciences or a related field; 
  • 3 years of experience in grant proposal writing  preferably for NGOs
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong ability to craft persuasive narratives.
  • Proficiency in researching and identifying potential grant opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting and financial justification within grant proposals.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with the key areas of public administration and government agenda.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
